Working it Out? Dinner, Quiz and Raffle at Headingley Golf Club

For some years now the Membership Committee has organised a social evening at Headingley Golf Club.
The aim has been to invite non-Rotarian guests to a ‘Rotary-do’ so that one or two might consider joining Rotary. This year 9 potential members had been invited. Money from the sale of over 60 tickets and the raffle raised a splendid total of nearly £600 for two good causes: £326 for the President’s charities from ticket sales and £270 for Martin House Hospice from the raffle.
A seating plan for seven tables labelled A to G had been prepared by Keith Crowther who acted as voluble MC during the evening.
Quiz sheets on the table soon got everyone into the mood as possible answers were whispered, in case the nearby table heard! The main quiz put together by Keith, consisted of 5 rounds. Running totals for each table were added up by Steve Bates and displayed on a large scoreboard. The eventual winners were on Table C, who accumulated 80.5 points.
Members had generously donated prizes for the raffle which was during the quiz. Monty Reid and Peter Woodhead sold tickets as people arrived and again after a very good meal efficiently served by the Golf Club Staff. Fred Archenhold asked Alison Wort from Martin House to pick sufficient tickets for the 14 prizes, which were quickly delivered to the winners by Monty R and Peter S.
President Iain Farquharson-Welsh thanked everyone for a successful and enjoyable evening
