Fish Supper Raises over £200 for RNLI

Headingley Rotarians turned out in force to support the RNLI Fish Supper 2018 campaign at the Fisherman’s Wife fish restaurant in Headingley on 4th October.

Clive Rand a Leeds-based Vice-President of the RNLI gave a very interesting and thought provoking presentation during which some staggering statistics for 2017 were mentioned.

4,000 volunteer crew, 238 lifeboats, 248 beaches patrolled, 19,000 miles of coast safe-guarded (including the Republic of Ireland),  8,072 lifeboat responses and 24,044 incidents assisted. This is all through voluntary donations and  without any government funding.

The Yorkshire District of Rotary Clubs are developing plans for a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds towards a new D class lifeboat. Every little helps!
