Club Invited to Attend Maggie’s Centre Preview

Following the club’s substantial donation to Maggie’s two years ago, ex President John Hafseth was invited to attend a special preview of Maggie’s cancer care center at St James’ Hospital, Leeds.

The event was very special, not to say glamorous, and speeches were made by Dame Laura Lee, CEO of Maggie’s and Maggie Jencks’s former clinical nurse specialist, Thomas Heatherwick, the award-winning architect who designed the building, Martin Jenkins, Chair of the Maggie’s Yorkshire Campaign Board, and Julian Hartley, Chief Executive of the Leeds Teaching Hospitals.

Architect Thomas Heatherwick Addresses the Visitors

It’s a building that manages to be spectacular and yet warm and human. It finally gives Leeds an emotional and psychological support service to match its outstanding clinical care. It just demands to be seen and visited. Doors are expected to open to clients in November and there is another preview, to which those interested are welcomed, on the 6th of November. Just drop in between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. You won’t regret it.
