Blood Pressure Testing Identifies ‘At Risk’ People

Blood Pressure Testing at Headingley Golf Club arranged by the Rotary Clubs of Headingley and Leeds Elmete, identified significant numbers of people who had higher than normal blood pressure.

Prevention of stroke by early detection of high blood pressure was the sole purpose of this event. which was held as part of the national Stroke Awareness campaign. It was very well received by the members of the golf club and within a 3 hour period 50 of them took part in it.

20 of those who had their blood pressures checked were advised to follow it up with their GP or the practice nurse and three of them were advised to do it as matter of urgency. This was significantly higher than one would expect to find raised blood pressure in general population and it highlights the importance of holding such events in the community.
